Trainingwerx launches HabitNu National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) training

Receive new referrals and get reimbursed for DDP lifestyle coaching

Prediabetes has reached the level of a national epidemic. More than 83 million Americans suffer from prediabetes, and without intervention up to 50% of prediabetics will go on to develop full-blown Type 2 diabetes. Even scarier, 9 out of 10 prediabetics don’t even know they have prediabetes.

In response to this epidemic, the CDC developed the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP). The goals of the program are to deliver CDC-recognized lifestyle change programs nationwide, ensure quality and adherence to proven standards, increase referrals to and participation in CDC-recognized lifestyle change programs, and increase coverage by employers and public and private insurers.

At the heart of the program is the NDPP lifestyle program, a lifestyle coaching program which has been shown to cut the risk of developing full-blown diabetes in half. Lasting one year, the program provides participants lifestyle modification support around healthy eating, increased physical activity, and stress reduction.

We believe the NDPP program offers a fantastic opportunity to deliver a value-added service to customers and patients, and for qualified patients the program is now covered by Medicare as well as many private payers.

Effective deployment of a CDC-recognized NDPP program requires lifestyle coaches who are trained to use a CDC-approved curriculum and who have the knowledge and skills to effectively deliver the program, as well as the infrastructure to recruit, enroll, and engage participants while appropriately tracking milestones and submitting claims. Together, Trainingwerx and HabitNu provide a turnkey solution that addresses each of these requirements. HabitNu is fully recognized by the CDC based on its outcomes.

Trainingwerx will provide lifestyle coach training, in-person or remotely, while HabitNu will provide participant engagement tools, the infrastructure required to track and file claims, and ongoing support. HabitNu will also assist with recruiting participants to the program. HabitNu’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a covered benefit under Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans.
